Privacy Policy

Parlour is a personal language-learning app. This page explains what data it collects and why. It's a small, independently run project, not a company — so this policy is short and factual rather than legal boilerplate.

Account and cloud sync (optional)

Signing in is optional and only needed if you want to back up your progress or use it on another device. If you use it:

If you never use the Account feature, no email address or progress data ever leaves your device — everything is stored locally in your browser.

Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile)

The sign-in flow is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, running in invisible mode, to prevent automated abuse of the login-link email. Turnstile runs in your browser and shares certain signals (such as your IP address and browser characteristics) with Cloudflare to assess whether a request is coming from a bot. See Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Policy Addendum for details of what Turnstile collects and how Cloudflare uses it.

Text-to-speech audio

Spoken audio for lessons, stories, and exercises is generated using Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, called via our own server. The text sent for synthesis is app content (words, sentences, story text) — never your email address or personal information. Generated audio is cached locally in your browser so the same text isn't re-synthesized every time.

What we don't do

Parlour has no advertising, no analytics or tracking scripts, and does not sell or share your data with anyone beyond the service providers named above, which exist solely to make the app work.
